It went, I believe, at the same time as my Captain Power stuff (now *that* was the game!)...

Sure I have! Never owned any of the merchandise, or watched the program, though. I was much more a "Transformers", "Galaxy Rangers" and "Voltron" kid. I spent a lot of free time in seventh through ninth grades actually designing and building my own Transformer-type robot toys out of posterboard and masking tape. Some of them were actually pretty nifty.

I love to think back to the plotlines of those cartoons, and how repetitive they were. Take Voltron, for example. In any given episode of Voltron, the following events happen:

1) The evil blue-faced witch builds a "Ro-Beast" for her evil blue-faced king to send to destroy Voltron.

2) The Ro-Beast arrives on-planet and commences wreaking havoc among the six or seven inhabitants who don't happen to live in Voltron Castle.

3) The Voltron Force springs into action, launching their robotic lions and attacking the Ro-Beast with everything they've got. However, the Ro-Beast kicks their butts without breaking a sweat.

4) Thinking quickly, the Voltron Force decides to form Voltron. The Ro-Beast takes five while the lions go a short distance off to merge into the giant robotic defender. Voltron fares better against the Ro-Beast than the lions did, but the opponents are still just too evenly matched for a decisive outcome.

5) As a last resort, the Voltron Force decides to form the Blazing Sword, with which they cleave the Ro-Beast in half in a single mighty downwards stroke. The evil blue-faced king snarls with rage and vows to send a much *tougher* Ro-Beast the next time.

Why didn't the morons just leave Voltron formed at all times, together with his Blazing Sword? Presumably, the episode would then be far too short, and they could only get two or three Cocoa Puffs commercials squeezed in, I guess.

Iss "don't even get me started on 'He-Man'" achar
