Much of this Tarzan outing was filmed on location in Africa. It was a wise move; there's a richness and spectacle to the film absent since the early Weissmuller days. And, in another improvement over prior episodes, Tarzan's Peril has some strong villains -- not one but four, which clash with each other in addition to the goodguys. The movie drags here and there but is, on the whole, an entertaining entry in the series. This was Lex Barker's third turn as Tarzan; Jane was played for the first and last time by Virginia Huston.
