The first and most faithful of the Tarzan films, this silent starring Elmo Lincoln in the title role was made only a few years after Edgar Rice Burroughs published the first of the legendary books. However, as faithful and reasonably well-made as it may be, the story's progression seems somewhat mechanical. Tarzan fans and silent film fans will want to give this one a look, but it is doubtful others will be interested.
