The other reservation I have about a "Stories We Wrote When We Didn't Know How To Write" page -- a project Dave and I have discussed off and on for months now but have thus far kept on the back burner -- is, who, exactly, would want to read such a thing? Dave and I love reading and rereading our old, junior high era stories and find them hilarious, almost in a "bad movie" sort of way, except they are so personal, having launched us into hobbies we're passionate about. I'm not sure how far a RinkWorks feature could go on what could probably only be enjoyed by others with vicarious enthusiasm.

Then again, "The Duel of the Ages," parodying books only a very few have ever read, turned out to be a successful step in that direction. But a site containing our older, unpublishable works would be even more extreme.

I've bandied about the idea of tossing the question of whether or not to do such a feature to you readers. Would you like to see such a site? I've resisted this long, because I suspect the response, from those few that actually saw the question AND actually cared, would be, "Of course! Show us!" but that wouldn't probably say much about the readership at large. Ordinary, I would not be so concerned about what the readership at large thinks, as while I take popularity into account, I started and will continue to maintain and update RinkWorks according to what interests me -- otherwise, this would be more of a job than a hobby, I'd get burnt out more quickly, and the general level of quality would decline anyway. But adding a whole new web feature of something very personal like that -- if a majority of people couldn't care less, the feature would be a detrimental addition to the site. The last thing I want to turn RinkWorks into is a Slapdash City.

At any rate, now that the subject has been broached here, I might as well ask for opinions. Would a site full of stories written by Dave and I as kids -- whose appeal might be from a "bad movie" kind of standpoint, or a "kids write the darnedest things" standpoint, or simple vicarious sentiment -- be at all interesting? I'm not looking so much for a "yes" or "no" but a discussion of reasons why such a site might or might not fly. And extreme flattery and groveling. Or a big pile of money.

Maybe if the whole thing was prefaced with the right kind of introduction, it would simply fit into RinkWorks' natural mode of silliness. I don't know.
