I have never eaten mail-order or store-bought fruitcake. I have, however, eaten home-made fruitcake on numerous occasions, all of which were the sort of occasions when I had to eat some or be thought impolite, because let me tell you there's no other way I'd ever eat the stuff. When I was little, I remember being a bit sad at the thought that I could never get married, because I assumed having fruitcake was some kind of legal requirement for a wedding.

Fruit is good. Cake is good. However, fruit in a cake, or a cake made of fruit, is as wrong as wrong can be. Fruitcake is THE EVIL. We hates it! We hates it forever!
