There's a contigency plan in the RAF formulated during World War Two, whereby if they ever run out of depleted uranium shells for armour piercing rounds, mail order fruitcake can be shaped using diamond-tipped tools into an acceptable substitute.

Fruit cake *can* be good, but it has to be very fresh, moist, warm, and served up with a generous spread of butter on it. But when you can spend time making gingerbread and espresso chocolate cake instead, why bother?
