My surname is Jones. One of the most common surnames in Western society. I have two middle names and have been both glad and annoyed at times.

Glad, because three initials are enough to distinguish you from all the other Joneses with only two. Annoyed because the space for full name on a lot of forms is not quite long enough to fit them all in.

My Dad once got another person's correspondence at work because they had the same name and middle initial as him. This went on for quite a while till the post clerks caught on.

Also, he is known to everyone by his middle name. This is because for the last eight generations the first born in my family has been male and been christened Robert. My elder brother is the first in four generations to be known as Robert in everyday life. He has two middle names too, but two other close relations have those sewn up, so Robert it was.

I don't knock having a middle name or even two. It's quite fun when people ask you for a middle initial and you say,"Which one? I have two."

Bea"Not saying what they are, either."sty
