I have a question about this custom that I have always wondered about.

Say Miss Glauck marries Mr. Dingle. She is now Mrs. Glack-Dingle, or something. They have a child, Miss Glauck-Dingle.

Around the same time, Miss Bendar marries Mr. Hackul. They marry, and Mrs. Bendar-Hackul has a son, Mr. Bendar-Hackul.

Mr. Bendar-Hackul manages to woo Miss Glauck-Dingle, and she marries him. Is their first son going to be Mr. Glauck-Dingle-Bendar-Hackul? Where does this cycle end?
