I enjoyed them, but I will say that it seems like Frank Herbert developed a preoccupation with sex in his later years...the last three of the Dune books, particularly the last two (Heretics of Dune and Dune: Chapterhouse) contained some very, well, explicit descriptions. I may not read those again, simply because I don't think that level of...erm...detail is necessary in a novel.

I've just reread Dune, and I'm onto rereading Dune Messiah and I'm quite enjoying them. It's good when you can get the same excitement out of book that you've read before by waiting 15 years so that you've forgotten most of the plot. But it is amazing how many details I remembered...
