The other five are less fascinating, but worth reading if you find yourself intrigued by the "universe" that Herbert imagined and created in his books.
Of all the books that I read in the series, I personally enjoyed the third book the most, Children of Dune. If I recall correctly, the writing style is tighter and the characterizations superior to the first book. The second book (Messiah) was somewhat disappointing, actually. Still, absolutely nothing can beat the first Dune book in terms of original scope and grandeur, and it truly set the stage for all world- and galaxy-building SF novels written subsequently. A really good novel if you enjoy immersive detail and the idea of twisty-plot feints within feints within feints.
