groan. . . that was pretty bad, Howard. :)

For the record, I grew up with cats, my parents both now have dogs (Golden Retriever for my dad, German Shepherd for my mom), and I live in a dorm that prohibits all pets other than fish. Not that that's stopped me from having: 2 baby fox squirrels, a kitten, a robin, and 2 flying squirrels (not all at the same time, of course!) The most pets I ever lived with at once was last summer - in an apartment with 4 permanent residents and a 13 year old boy who spent about half his time there, lived 2 iguanas, 3 rats, and a robin. If I had to choose, cats would probably be my preference, but I've heard that squirrels make fantastic pets. I've never gotten a chance to try it out, really (the fox squirrels both died - they were very very young, and the flying squirrels were completly anti-social). And before anyone asks, no, the flying squirrels did not fly around the room. They lived in a cage and hid all the time, anyhow.
