You're right, Howard. That skunk joke was pretty bad. . . :)
Piers Anthony is the author. I'm not sure how many books are in the series, but my favorite one is "Man from Mundania". I have to warn you, they're written for probably a high grade school level, so they aren't too intelectual. But, not bad to sit down and breeze through if you like a bad pun. Piers Anthony also writes Sci-Fi stuff for adults, but I haven't read any of that yet.
