Must be confusing. Or maybe not, in light of the Valley Girl epidemic: "You've GOT to be, like, totally joking or something. That was SO, like, a MILLION years ago!" (Referring, naturally, to an article of clothing that has been out of fashion for a day or two.) Or, it could be like my father and his mother, for whom time is virtually meaningless. "Just recently" can mean in the last few decades; "In a moment" means never; "I will soon" means that he didn't hear you; "8:00" means anytime from 4 to 11; "eventually" may mean in a few minutes; so on and so forth.

I've thought that too, though! I'm sure many of us Rinkers lie awake at night disturbed by such thoughts. There was a Deep Space Nine episode where an itty-bitty universe crashed into the station (or similar scenario). They didn't just destroy it because there were "life signs" inside. There was that Madeleine L'Engle book the title of which I don't recall where mitochondria were sentient.

I've heard of a movie where little blue men built the entire world (again, it could be only close to what I'm recalling) one minute at a time. Occasionally, in the rush to meet the one minute deadlines, they'd forget or lose something.
