There was a Deep Space Nine episode where an itty-bitty universe crashed into the station (or similar scenario). They didn't just destroy it because there were "life signs" inside. There was that Madeleine L'Engle book the title of which I don't recall where mitochondria were sentient. > > The book was either "A Wrinkle in Time" or "A Wind in the Door", more likely the latter I think. I had both of these, plus "A Swiftly Tilting Planet" (which was the third book about the same characters) when I was a kid and they were really great. > > Brunnen-"just can't remember which title went with which plot"G
I'm pretty sure it was "A Wind in the Door". I read and loved the books, as well. There's also another book, "Many Waters", that goes along with the other three, though it focuses on relatively minor characters from the other novels.
Burger"The worlds of mitochondria, inhabited by farandolae? Definately books to widen a young mind."King
