At Malibu Beach, a girl in a troupe of musicians is murdered. Charlie and Jimmy Chan come to the rescue. There's lots of screaming and bungling around in the dark, but very little sleuthing -- most of Charlie Chan's deductions come to him without reason or explanation. Sadly, this is yet another poor entry in Monogram Pictures' futile effort to extend the series beyond its natural run.
The Trap was Sidney Toler's last film as Chan. His replacement, Roland Winters, failed to match up.
