Reviews and Comments

An old gold mine, previously thought to be dried up, suddenly starts producing again under suspicious circumstances, while the owner raves about someone trying to murder him. It's not hard to figure out what's really going on, although there are some surprising if arbitrary twists at the end.

The Charlie Chan series was in its last death throes by this film, and although this episode is marginally better than some of the other latter-day entries, it still feels like it's cranked out by a machine. There are no actual characters in this, just people who stand around and recite lines on cue. Even the comic relief, which is not very comic, feels mechanical.
