I don't actually believe a movie, no matter how violent, has the power to drive someone to commit violent acts. Someone comes out of a movie and kills somebody, that person obviously had problems beforehand. However, I'm starting to wonder if the Friday the 13th was made with the hope of driving someone on the brink and sending him on a shooting spree. This moronic anti-entertainment seems to have been made as a torture device.
Those familiar with the series already know everything they need to about this one. Bad actors get killed, one by one, by Jason, a superhuman killer who gets uglier with every life he takes. This time most of the action takes place on a ship -- they don't get to Manhattan until well into the second half. I have to give the writers at least a little credit -- they accidentally skirted one of the most maddening plot points of the typical Friday entry, namely that the killings are never discovered until the final showdown. Well, they may have dodged that pitfall, but stupidity and pointlessness still prevail.
