The Friday the 13th formula is reworked again, this time with gimmicky 3D effects. The home video version is not in 3D, which makes it look downright silly when people keep shoving stuff at the screen. A modest attempt is made to develop the characters better than in previous episodes. The movie is successful with one character, an insecure practical joker, but the necessities of the formula take precedence and cut off the only hope for a reasonable story element. Again, people are killed without purpose. Again, it isn't until the end that anybody notices. This episode doesn't even have an eerie atmosphere to it, which was the only thing the first two films had going for them.
