Sitting around here at quarter of two in the morning with nothing better to do, I figure I may as well give everyone an update on how I'm doing. For those of you not interested in listening to some self-indulgent idiot talk about his problems and so forth, you may feel free to skip this entirely and I won't mind.

I got an e-mail yesterday from my father telling me (in a very accusative tone and somewhat indelicate (to say the least) language) that he had screwed up my financial aid forms, and we ended up owing the school a couple thousand dollars that he was not willing (able, just not willing) to pay, and therefore they were withdrawing me from the school.

Please note that nowhere in this was there any hint of an apology or anything of the sort for the way he treated me with the initial letter that started the whole mess. So there isn't even any reason for all this mess anymore.

Hey, cheer up! You're young and healthy. Be glad you've got a father to disagree with. Mine wasn't perfect either, but he's been gone for many years and I still miss him. We used to have some real disagreements and he never put a nickle into my college fund, but he could be a a lot of fun. I noticed that even after a "very large fight" you still referred to your friend as "my closest friend." Even friends tend to disagree sometimes, but it doesn't last. Things can look pretty bad at 2 am, but when it's day time you can go, out get a little exercise and think about the good times you had with your father and your friend and everything will look better. Trust me.
