I frequently seem to get along better with women than with men, myself. Maybe I'm not interested enough in the usual "guy" things, like sports, to bond easily with other men. (Have you noticed how seldom anyone posts about sporting events in this forum, with the exception of Howard's NASCAR predictions?) I also think that men are sometimes uncomfortable making prolonged eye contact with other men (at least, I've felt this), since eye contact carries a slight degree of intimacy. That makes it harder to hold a conversation. Of course, this is just wild speculation on my part.

There's also, of course, some fun involved in cross-gender repartee, since everyone likes to think of themselves as appearing witty and interesting to the opposite sex. For us marrieds, though, it's something to be careful of -- you don't want to flirt while you chat -- and I wish that our society were better versed in the art of having friendship without romantic/s*xual [there's that forbidden word again] tension. I blame the media. :-)
