Probably nothing means anything in the long run, unless you are religious. However, here and now, it does. It's a fine thing to be able to make a positive difference to the here and now, and correspondingly wrong to make the universe a little bit worse before its time, through your own action or inaction.

I can't do anything about the universe coming to an end, so it doesn't worry me.
