In Atlanta, Ga., rush hour begins every morning at 5:30 am and continues until 5:29 am the next day. Traffic jams are usually five to eight lanes wide with 2.5 to 3 feet between vehicles and all moving at the same speed (about 75 mph). In Atlanta, a 12 ft. interstate lane is 11 ft. wide. You'd be surprised how much this sames Big A in right-o-way costs. If an accident occurs in the southbound lane of the Interstate, all northbound motorists are required to stop and look. This usually results in a northbound accident which requires all unwrecked southbound motorists to stop and look. If wrecks occur in dry weather, it will rain before the the mess is cleaned up. If it snows, everybody wrecks. Atlanta has designated "accident investigation areas" at intervals along most freeways. If a car is smashed and the driver is killed, he is required to drive to the nearest accident investigation area so as to not impede the flow of traffic. The Atlanta Journal Constitution, a local newspaper, has a column that keeps Atlantians avised about conditions on their freeways. He is known as the "Lane Ranger." If you don't believe this, ask the nearest redneck and he will confirm that everyword is true. Would I lie to you? From the twisted mind...
