Possibly the most Canadian thing around, Tim Horton's is this GIANT national donut-shop chain (they're also becoming famous for their coffee). If a town doesn't have a Tim Horton's, it's nothing. And there is NO competition. I'm surprised you could even find a Dunkin' Donuts - of course, you were in Quebec. That changes everything.

I've eaten at this strange conglomeration-type resteraunt, a Wendy's-Tim Horton place. One buiding, but two serving counters inside and two dining rooms. Wendy's on the left, Tim Horton's on the right. It was odd. We were there for lunch so we ate at the Wendys. I'm not much of a frequenter of donut shops anyway.

The biggest news in the donut world out here is the invasion of Krispy Kremes--yes they finally followed their manifest destiny and made it to the west coast. All the transplanted Southerners out here get that certain gleam in their eyes when they talk about Krispy Kremes...I don't quite see the attraction, myself. But then, I'm more of a "cake" donut person. How about a reader poll--cake or glazed?

By the way, the first Krispy Kreme in my area just *happened* to be built right next to the police station...
