I just realised that's wrong. I've seen three. There's a bakery that sells American-style donuts in our local shopping mall, there's a little booth halfway up Queen Street in the central city, and I'm pretty sure there used to be another one someplace else in the city. The point, however, is that we have never had shops dedicated solely to the production and sale of the American donut in all its glorious variety. Until now. I have to find an excuse to go to South Auckland.
