"With one word, I could send a hundred arrows into his body. But such a simple death wouldn't give me any pleasure."
Thank goodness for villains that think like that. If not for them, movie heroes would be an endangered breed. Maciste In King Solomon's Mines has a lot of elaborate death traps, all circumvented with tremendous and protracted muscle strain. Around the edges, it finds time to show off opulent sets and costumes. The film doesn't offer much more than that, but it doesn't promise any more either.
