Goliath and the Sins of Babylon has a conspicuously larger budget than most of these Italian sword-and-sandal flicks, or at least it made better use of it. This movie is almost worth seeing for the spectacle alone. On the other hand, it was probably a mistake for it to attempt to recreate the famous chariot race scene from Ben-Hur, because it's banal and inept by comparison. The film's other big mistake was using a dwarf for comic relief -- his every scene is downright embarrassing. Still, this is one of the better Maciste films.
