Hercules Against the Moon Men is another in a long line of sword-and-sandal flicks made in Italy in the late 1950s and 1960s. Hercules is played by a Steve Reeves lookalike, and the supporting cast consists of over-manicured women and...well, moon men, I guess. The only thing more confusing than who and what the moon men are (Moon worshippers? Aliens? Rocks?) and what they are doing is why half the movie consists of speechless shots of people walking through a sandstorm. Check that: there is one more point of confusion: why does a supporting character get killed in what is presumably his own trap in his own secret corridor?

Anyway, the citizens of a city are oppressed and murdered by a nearby cult, and Hercules mills around for a while before finally venturing over (through the sandstorm) and giving all the badguys a good pounding. When the camera isn't pointed at sand, it's inevitably pointed at flexing muscles, including an absurdly long scene where Hercules has to keep two beds of spikes from sandwiching him between.

Inexplicably, there is an audience for these movies. Hey, I watched this. But even amongst its peers, this is a poor effort.
