We went to Ohio for New Years this year and visited with my family. We also got to meet The Scotsman's new baby daughter. I've started a new photo album for 2006 and added the first page with pictures from our trip. I'll link to it below.
The last picture on that page isn't actually from the trip, but the day after we returned. We discovered the morning of our drive home while we were having breakfast that L'il Grish's lower right front tooth was loose. Very loose, apparently, because it came out last night just after he went to bed. I was working late last night, so I went up to see him after I got home and he showed it to me.
We were worried that he would "freak out" when he lost his first tooth, but apparently we prepared him well for the experience and he wasn't bothered by it at all. We put it in a plastic baggie under his pillow and I'm sure he was excited this morning to find that the Tooth Fairy had left him a dollar in its place. He was still asleep when I left for work; I wish I could have seen him discover it. :)
We had a very good trip to and from Ohio this time; nothing like our last time out. We made record time... 7.5 hours to get there and a little over 8 coming back. The portable DVD player my mom gave us for Christmas certainly helped a lot.
We had an interesting weekend while we were there, though. Mrs. Grishny had been having what seemed like symptoms of bad side effects from medication the last few weeks, only her medication hadn't been changed since October. We went to the family doctor a week ago today and he said she might have had some small seizures. On Sunday we were visiting at our old church in Ohio and she suffered what appeared to be two bad seizures... her whole body shaking, although she never lost consciousness. We ended up at the hospital and they ran a CAT scan and several blood tests and couldn't find anything from those, so they didn't diagnose her. She had an MRI yesterday morning and we're going back to see the family doctor today. She's having an EEG on January 20th, and we're going to be making an appointment with a neurologist soon. It may have been induced by lack of sleep and/or anxiety, but it left her with a really bad headache and nausea the rest the weekend. She felt a bit better yesterday, but by nighttime she was feeling ill again.
It's all been very scary. Please pray for us, and especially for my wife.
