The one that gets me the most is when someone from the free-loader culture goes into shock after seeing how honest, hard-working people live. But I think it's fun to watch people react to some place they have never been. A good example is the northerner who has an Al Capp notion that people in my area live in tiny cabins hanging on the side of a mountain, and they are surprised to find that we don't lay around in a straw hat with bare feet sticking out of ragged overalls.

My answer to that question was "overly inflated egos." I have a hard time keeping a straight face when people think they have to have the largest house, the largest car, and the most money just to be important. Only another egotistical maniac judges people that way.
