I knew a kid in high school who had a twenty cent check. He called the operator from a payphone and told her he'd lost two dimes in the phone (whether he actually had or not, I don't know). She took his name and address, and Bell Atlantic sent him a check for twenty cents.

For a few days I tried to find a way to get rich off this knowledge. Finally I figured it wasn't realistic to call the operator and tell her I'd just pumped $200 in quarters into the phone. And do that over and over and over.
