I once read the autobiography of a gentleman who grew up around 1900, when silver dollars were fairly common. He mentioned that somebody asked him why he liked to carry the heavy coins, when he could carry paper money. The reason was that he liked the jingle of the coins, even though they were heavy and somewhat awkward.
