Actually, I worked at Burger King. I'm glad those days are over. For a lot of my "coworkers," it was their first job, and some of them didn't really know how to work. Management wasn't always that great, either. I had one manager who spent a lot of her time in the office, either doing her makeup or talking to friends on the phone. I was just a crew member, but I eventually became an unofficial manager, partly because of the deficencies of some of the people above me.
Of course, the rudeness of some of the customers didn't help. Some people don't seem to realize that fast food can't be very fast when half of your workers don't show up.
