Actually, "if A then B" implies "if (not B) then (not A)". It does not imply "if (not A) then (not B)".
There's a big difference.
Take the true statement "If it is made of wood, it can be burned".
In this case, A = "it is made of wood" and B = "it can be burned".
Clearly, this implies "if (not B) then (not A)", because if it doesn't burn, you know it's not made of wood.
It does not imply "if (not A) then (not B)", because it might be made of something other than wood that can still burn, for example hydrogen.
