The restrictions mostly came into play in the early days of the NES and SNES, when Nintendo had the market power to maintain them. Games for the N64 and Gamecube span a much wider range of target audiences, but of the three systems out right now it's definitely the one targeted most at the younger demographic. Also, pretty much all of Nintendo's principal franchises are cartoony, family sort of things.

It'll feature a pile of awesome games, most of which will be playable using the system's built-in touch screen. It will also, of course, be able to play every Game Boy game already out there. Plus there's wireless 16-player gaming. And optional voice recognition! AND WI-FI COMPATIBLE ONLINE PLAY! AND MORE GRAPHICS POWER THAN THE NINTENDO 64 AND PS1! And I'm going nuts.

Have we heard any pricing information about the DS yet? Also, it's a minor point, but I think the DS is only backwards-compatible back to GBA games and not GB or GBC.
