I started out for Pigeon Forge this morning and just as I pulled out on the highway, half a mile from home, there was a screech and a thump, just a few feet behind me. A car had pulled out in front of another car and had I been a few seconds later, I would have been involved.

About a half an hour later, on a curve near Townsend, a car crossed the centerline and forced me on to the right sholder. Fortunately, there was a nice, wide, paved sholder.

Arriving in Pigeon Forge we were briefly held up by a truck that had rear-ended a car. We were several minutes too late to get into that one.

A short distance from there, we were easing up to a red light. There was still about 20 feet between me and the stopped car in front, when a car cut across two lanes of traffic and charged through that gap. He sort of came out of nowhere.

But do you ever stop and think how nice it is to get where you are going and still be in one piece?
