In my defence, I had a major life event less than a year ago (marriage and new home) that required getting a new kettle. Also, I don't drink much tea, so I use the kettle very seldom.

The handedness doesn't affect its function very much, as you can imagine if you think of how symmetric most kettles are. It's one of those electric kettles on a base, and it has a small light to indicate when the water is boiling. You can orient the kettle on the base however you want, but if you want the light to face you, the handle has to be off to the right.

Anybody else have any unexpectedly right-handed appliances?
