Speaking of Baseball...

Well, they let us down again. The Reds, that is. They let the Mets thrash them this evening and now we aren't going to the playoffs for at least another year. I am a die-hard Reds fan, but it gets harder and harder to root for a team that does so well and then still falls to thier knees at the end.

Here's what was said in an article on Yahoo.com in thier sports section:
"Tonight's loss left a sour taste in Cincinnati, where the Reds' season still far exceeded expectations. Despite a mere $33 million payroll, the Reds finished with 96 wins, the most since the "Big Red Machine" of 1976 won 102. Since the wild card era began in 1995, no team has won more and failed to reach the playoffs."

That last line really hits hard. Sheesh, give us a little credit. They did do better than they have in years. But, I just wanted to bid a fond farewell to team for the year, and say that I'll be back next year, right there, in the green seats, behind third base.
