> Being a Red Sox fan is tough, too. They've got a well earned reputation for raising expectations so high and then not delivering in the end. They are in the playoffs this year, and they've got a good team, but I think everyone in the New England area is just *waiting* for them to choke. Because it *always* happens. The Sox haven't won it all since 1918.

The ads go through and describe the new park, how it's going to be modern and yet keep all the famous features from the old park. (The Green Monster, Pesky's pole, etc.) They end the commercial with the line "And remember, everytime we build a new ballpark, we win the World Series!" (Fenway was built in 1918.)

While we're sort of on the subject, one of my biggest pet peeves is not being allowed to root for my favorite team. I never miss a Cowboys game if I can help it. But I have taken more abuse, and even been threatened once or twice, just for cheering for them. I don't mind snide remarks or anything like that, Lord knows I've heard them all, but to threaten someone just for cheering for their team?? I just don't get it.

Kel"how 'bout them Cowboys!"ly
