> I am fairly certain that you can win with ANYTHING, as long as you're willing to keep at it long enough. I'm currently playing my fourth game of MR, and I have only one character in my party. A wizard, and I've not retrained him once, so all he has is the full complement of wizard spells. I'm probably one day's play from winning now. My single character is at something like level 98 and has almost 2000 hit points and about 1500 spell points.
Well, that'll teach me to speak out of turn. A week and a half later and I'm still churning away at the same game. I've got my wizard up to level 204 now. I still haven't finished, and it's not for lack of trying...
> My point is, you don't have to retrain anybody to win the game. It'll just take more time, to build up your characters to a point where they're strong enough to handle the most advanced monsters.
I may have been incorrect in saying this. The reason I haven't finished my game is that I can't get past the first batch of Murkon's Royal Escorts or whatever they're called. Even at a speed of 13, I'm not fast enough to get in a BODYARMOR spell before they hit me, and as wizard, the maximum armor level I've been able to acheive is 23-24, depending on what I'm equipping. That includes the use of MEDLEY. Every time I take 'em on, I get paralyzed and dragged back to town.
I still haven't found any unique wizards-only items that might give me the edge I need, so I'm not giving up yet, but... I have a sinking feeling that it may be impossible to *get to* Murkon with a wizard who hasn't been crossed-trained as something else, no matter how high a level you take him to.
