What do you do, play 24/7? I've been at it for over 2 mos. and only have one character (my Rogue) up to a lev.17. I'm retraining 2 who have reached lev. 14 and the other 3 are still 16's with thousands of exp. points to go each. Been to the pools on lev. 5 and found one on 7. Then turn around and get the whole party killed on 5 right when I think they can handle just about everything on that level. Shesh! I think it may be a lot like 2 years to get anyone up to Lev. 40 or better. Can't imagine how to get them up there any faster. Lev. 8 is still an 'instant kill' for my group if we hit liches or Babrogs. Any hints on how to speed up their advancing levels and how to increase the A/C without losing speed? This is toooo slooow! Thanx for any help Ban(frustrated)an.
When you have more than one character in your party, they all have to share the gold and experience and Items of Specialness that they find. When you have only one character, he gets to keep it all for himself, so he levels up six times faster than a full party.
A single-character party is also more efficient at killing monsters, because he doesn't have to make do with feeble long-range weapons. So he kills three times slower, and levels up six times faster. I've had single and 3-character parties at ridiculously high levels, but even getting a Rogue in a 6-character party up to level 200 had to wait for a game that I wasn't playing to win.
As an added bonus, after a certain point each level-up requires the same amount of experience. The extra experience that the single guy gets is put to maximum use.
As for AC, there's only so much you can do. Once you've found the best possible equipment, all you can count on is the mystical powers of your Assassins and Druids to protect them. Of course, since you're still not very deep in Murkon's dungeon, you haven't yet encountered some of the wonderful Items of Extra-Specialness that can be found in the deeper pools. A few of these should help out some of your more fragile characters.
Good luck beating Murkon.
