I refuse to discuss the difference between the informal (not specifically Aussie or Kiwi) "G'Day" and the formal "Good Day" and I am offended (NOT! Just for the purposes of humour) that you should not recognise this.

Good Day to you, Sir!

Was that a "Hello"? (Non-rhetorical question)

Driver OK, so this is a very old thread, but I've just discovered RinkWorks and I've been reading all sorts of fascinating things and feel that I might at last have discovered a way to add a little bit of interest to my otherwise sad and lonely geek-oriented life by insinuating myself into what appears to be a very friendly online community with great mutual respect for other points of view coupled with many, many different things that interest me such as the Games (just scored 74310 in EF2 on my first try) and the Trivia section (and after many, many tries I can't get 100% on Word Trivia despite getting 24/25 thirteen times) and all sorts of other other opportunities to enjoy a vicarious real imitation of a life (Thank you, rinkWorks (would you mind adding a spell-checker to this thing?) for what I think I may come to see as a safe haven away from the agonies of my real day to day life problems) that simply isn't possible in the real world (due to certain disabilities I have that I'm not prepared to specify in order to avoid the automatic sympathy that I suspect the average RinkWorlder would feel him/herself compelled to express should they know the details (and I DON'T want uninformed sympathy (though I understand and accept the need some of you may have to express that sympathy and I DO accept informed sympathy if only for the reason that I myself feel a degree of sympathy for others who may be in the same situation as myself (this situation currently being an utter failure to remember just how deep into levels of paretheses I am))), and I wonder if this mid-nym insertion is going to be misinterpreted because I have had much experience in the past of people not understanding my (admittedly wierd) sense of humour (which has NOTHING to do with the fact that I'm a New Zealander because I think that racial/geographical/situational (I'm not going to explain my definition of "situational") definitions/stereotypes are so hard to anticipate in a large group of intelligent people) though I realise that I'm probably equally concerned that many may *understand and reject* the humour and see only the ravings of a deranged mind) so I'd better conclude this right now with both a quick assurance to Wedge that of course I understand his non-salutory (valetory?) use of "G'Day" even though here in New Zealand the contraction "G'Day" has somehow changed a little in meaning from the full "Goodday" and the reassurance to others "Gentlemen (which of course includes ladies), you may now inhale."
