Another RinkMeet...

I headed up to Canada on Friday night to see Rivikah again and meet Mensekemeser... but because of the evilness of maps.yahoo.com I got quite a bit lost somewhere in Canada and got in too late to see Mense.

But the next day after a slow start Rivi and I went to Mense's house. Riv had brought a couple of card games I'd never heard of. Fluxx and Set. We played Fluxx first and I got totally addicted and wanted to keep playing and playing ... but finally they convinced me to play Set for a while before we went to get some lunch.

I've found that the only bad thing about meeting up with Rinkies is that we're all terribly indecisive. It may actually be that none of us wants to pick something to do because we don't want to make anyone do something they wouldn't enjoy. Either way, it always takes forever to decide on things, as we experienced all weekend. But it wasn't that bad as we at least had something to joke about.

Anyway, I had Subway sub for the first time. It wasn't as bad as I thought since they actually had white bread, which is the only kinda sub bread I like. After Subway we decided to go to St. Jacob's Farmers Market. It was a cute little flea market-type place and it was fun to tour around.

After that we headed back to Mense's to play some more Fluxx (my suggestion) and chatted some more. We also ate some gummy bears that Rivi had brought. And when I say some I mean A WHOLE FREAKIN' LOT. We were pretty sugar-hyped at that point. Then we decided that we could fit in a movie before dinner, so with Mense being a huge Jackie Chan fan, me liking his films, and Riv having never seen any, we decided to watch Shanghai Noon. It was pretty good. Just about as I expected it to be.

Then we headed out to dinner at Red Lobster. Thankfully they had Ohio-like shrimp. For those who don't know, Ohio Shrimp is like any good shrimp that's not fresh off the boat. When you grow up with this stuff you tend to have a hard time eating the real stuff you get in places like New Hampshire. ;-)

Finally we ended up back at Mense's to watch Princess Mononoke. I've never seen Anime before, but I agreed to try it and after I saw the first "god" with worm-type things on it I was out like a light.. snoozing on the couch. This isn't to say I was bored with it, I was just tired and had a nice blanket to curl up on .. and ok I'm just being nice. It was anime. What do you expect me to say about it? The stupid thing gave me a "wonderful" nightmare about worms coming out of some huge giant orange sponge. Ugh. No more anime for me for a while. Hehe.

That was the end of that night.

Sunday Riv and I slept in kinda late and ended up back at Mense's house around 1:15 or so. We played Fluxx, and some Set. Then Mense pulled out a game called Mind-something-or-other (I don't remember). The game is just cards with logic problems on them to solve (perfect for us geek-types) and so we just passed around the cards as we played another game of Fluxx. Soon we started a game of Set too, and brought back out the gummy bears. It was quite chaotic, but a really good time.

Then we got some KFC brought to us by Mense's brother. Their KFC's are weird though. They don't have mashed potatoes and they don't have corn on the cob. I ask you, what kind of KFC is that? We did get some french fries though which weren't terribly bad. And the chicken was good. Mense insisted that I take the fries home though and the guy at the border looked at me like I was an idiot when he said, "Do you have anything to declare?" and I held up this HUGE box and said, "Yeah, this here box of french fries."

Anyway, I'm home now. All in all a good time for a weekend trip. And a great new RinkMeet. I'm up to 40 now... and there's no telling when I'll stop. ;-)
