> then there are always the dreams in which you DO understand everything.... i had one of those this morning. actually, i know exactly when it was - between 6:59 and 7:08, or something like that.... my last time allowing myself to push the snooze button.... i suppose i fell back asleep, but the fact that i was so close to consciousness had a lot to do with the fact that it made perfect sense, and still does, although some of the small details don't quite fit. i'm in a brave mood tonight, so here it is, although i'll probably hit myself for this tomorrow.

I'll probably come back to deal with the rest of this some other time - I am in no condition to do so now. I have to say, though, that I am thoroughly convinced that snooze buttons are the handiwork of Satan. He figured that the alarm clock is entirely too useful / vital an invention, and that he had to find some way not only to defeat its purpose, but also to disallow people from getting any actual additional meaningful sleep. Therefore, he added big, huge buttons to alarm clocks, very easy to hit in a groggy, I-just-woke-up state, that would postpone the alarm for nine minutes - exactly enough time to begin getting back to *real* sleeping, but not to get a significant amount of rest. Then it wakes you up again, prompting you to hit the button again since you're no more rested than you were before, and you begin a long cycle of suchlike nonsense while the Devil sits back and laughs his arse off. That Satan - he's a mean practical joker.
