Mine used to be across the room, but it did more harm than good. My shelves are all full so I had to set it on the floor. I'd stumble over numerous books and projects strewn over the floor by my bed, usually stubbing my toe several times, even if I did turn my lamp on, which I didn't, since I'd just have to turn it off again once I turned on my lights. Anyways, I'd fumble around with my toe to hit the off button and usually end up hitting that horrid snooze button. Five minutes later, as I'm just getting out of my room or, worse, I'm already down the hall, there's that annoying 'beepbeepbeep' and I have to walk all the way back.

That is if I didn't unplug the thing while stumbling over to it, in which case I don't get up the next morning unless I actually reset everything.
