A discussion on the Meaning of Life or "What constitutes a good movie", or even, "Is chewing gum food?" is liable to go on for several pages.

But then you get to a point where a great many posts in the forum are going to be nothing more than "Me too", or dropping "(nt)" in the subject line. I view the forum as a way to communicate something that will (hopefully) be interesting enough that it's worth saving. Items that are simply "me too" or "LOL!!1one" aren't substantial communication, to paraphrase the message forum policy.

Also from the policy:

"RinkChat is where most limited- or transient-interest topics should be discussed as well as where most conversational discourse should take place. The message forum should be reserved for more substantial and enduring posts."

This is why I post some things to my livejournal account -- I don't think that some of them are good enough for Rinkworks*. Others I feel are inappropriate for the Rinkworks community, such as my livejournal posts about my former place of employment.

* This is, good enough for what I think a post worthy of being on this message forum should be. Talking smack about the NHL playoffs: livejournal; Questioning the value of prayer: Rinkworks.
