The strangest place i've ever had a lens pop out was probably 12 miles out on a bike trail by the city where i was in college. I don't think the screw was already missing, as the frame just seemed to give way and the lens drop all at once. Fortunately, the lens fell in such a way that i could catch it without stopping, so it didn't hit the asphalt and get all scratched up and nasty.

So i rode 12 miles back to my car with one good lens, holding the other eye closed to keep from getting disoriented. Driving back to school from across town was a joy, too (grumble, grumble). But, all things considered, i was really fortunate.
