It sounds like I'm just wrong. I'm not even entirely sure where the idea came from; probably guilt by association with L.A.

Wasn't it San Diego county that banned the word "minority" to refer to...uh, minorities? This sort of liberal-y move probably made an impression. Also the impression that urban = liberal, which is admittedly a general rule with exceptions. Though L.A. is worse, San Diego is still one of the more populated areas in the country.

Ah well. Nice to know the sensible folk in California aren't all in the empty parts. ;-)
