Snow practically unknown? Reminds me of an anthropoligal bit i picked up from a missionary's slide show a few years back. I'd never thought about it, but in translating Scripture for people who don't have some of the natural occurences referred to in the histories of Israel and such, they have to use adaptive translations like, "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as coconut milk."

And to think, the Inuit people have (if i remember correctly) at least 6 different words for snow, depending on coarseness and other physical features. Hmm!
