I am using my mother's internet connection until the end of next week, and for some reason I can't fathom, it has completely messed up my browser. (IE 5.5 on Windows 98.) I can't refresh pages anymore.

None of my browser settings have changed, and I had no problems using the exact same laptop and brower right up to the day I started using the different dialup, so I assume it must be something to do with the connection settings.

To forestall the obvious questions (at least, the ones which are obvious to me): yes, I know about the "check for updates every time you visit the page" setting, and I have cleared my Temporary Internet Files folder and my browser history in case the browser was defaulting to stored pages. Please don't suggest that I call the ISP and ask for help, because I have already done that, and everybody I managed to speak to at their so-called helpdesk knows even less about dialup and browser settings than I do. (You wouldn't think it was possible.)

I can still read the Recent Messages page during my break at work, so hopefully by tomorrow somebody will have provided an answer here, because right now I won't even be able to see if this message posted. I hope it's something simple and obvious, because it's driving me nuts.
