I never saw a glacier I didn't like. As the plane was coming into Anchorage, I could see them all over the place. Those stark black and white streaks winding around between the peaks! Then we sailed to Glacier Bay on a cruise ship and saw icebergs calving off the end of the glaciers. I had seen the blue color of the ice in pictures, but I thought it was just something that showed up on film. It was even bluer in real life! Most place don't look as good as the postcards, but Alaska looks even better.

But I wouldn't want to spend a winter there.
